During these uncertain times, we may feel more anxious than usual. With so many variables and unknowns, it is enough to make anyone feel uneasy. While we cannot control the majority of what is happening, we can control how we react to the situation. Managing feelings of anxiety is going to remain crucial as we spend more time at home and away from friends and family. We want to do our part in supporting everyone and have put together these tips of how to manage your anxiety.
Being anxious is hard. Getting upset or frustrated with yourself for being anxious makes it much harder. When you feel yourself getting anxious, take a moment and allow your body to feel what it is feeling. Take note of how you feel, what your mind is saying, if there are any particular triggers. Remember that you are not your feelings; you are the one who experiences them, but there is a separation between you and the feelings of anxiousness.
Meditation can be as simple as watching your breath. With your eyes closed, breathe in for the count of six, hold for the count of three, and exhale for the count of nine. Really focus on the air moving in and out of your nose, how it feels on your lips, the way it fills your lungs. Do this a few times each day, even if it’s only for five minutes at a time!

You may also enjoy writing, reading, cooking/baking or painting as a way to quiet your mind. Meditation looks different for anyone, and there is no “right” or “wrong” way to go about doing so. Whatever feels good, do that.
While practicing social distancing, we can still enjoy nature! Take your pup for a walk, go for a hike, lay out in the sunshine, do yoga on the front lawn, whatever you’re in the mood for! The Vitamin D will do your body good and fresh air is good for the soul!
